MEADOW HIGH SCHOOL
Welcome to our webpage of plans for Meadow High School on Royal Lane in Uxbridge.
The purpose of the webpage is to show the plans for the school to local residents, parents, pupils and other interested parties.
A planning application has been submitted to Hillingdon Council who
have resolved to grant planning permission, subject to the completion
of a legal agreement. Full details of the application are available on

It is hoped that work can start on site by the end of 2020
As you may be aware Meadow High School is a Community Special School for pupils aged 11-19 years with Autism and complex Special Educational Needs (SEN). There are currently 247 pupils on role. The school is run and maintained by the Local Authority.
The existing school is made up of a number of separate buildings that have developed in an unplanned way over several years. A number of the buildings are now in poor condition and the inefficient layout of the site creates a poor learning environment for pupils.
Planning Application
The principle of improving the existing school is supported by the Council and pre-application discussions took place before the application was submitted.
Galliford Try have been appointed by the Department for Education to design and build the new facilities. Galliford Try with their team have worked up detailed designs for the school and following comments from the community these have been submitted to the London Borough of Hillingdon for approval.
The Proposals
It is proposed to demolish the existing single storey building located in the centre of the site and this will be replaced with a new sports hall and a multi-use games area. The existing science, art, design and technology classrooms and the library will be refurbished. A new two storey building that will accommodate classrooms, a new school hall and a new main entrance is proposed in the southern part of the site. In addition to these works the existing pupil drop off and staff parking will be re-laid out to improve access and circulation.
The proposals do not seek to increase the existing number of pupils on the school role and only seek to improve the learning environment for existing pupils.
